— Could you please briefly introduce yourself?
N: Nice to meet you, I'm N. I'm a member of Northwestern University's Class of 2024, where I majored in Data Science and Economics, and I received my bachelor's degree in May 2024. Outside of academics, I worked primarily as a research assistant in finance at Northwestern University. Additionally, during my studies, I received a job offer through Jelper Club from a hedge fund, and I'm scheduled to start working there this October (2024).
— First of all, how did you learn about Jelper Club?
N: I found out about it through a friend at the same university who was a member of Jelper Club. At the time, I was aiming for an academic career and wasn't very proactive about job hunting. However, when I heard that they offered exclusive job listings and networks for top students worldwide, I applied out of curiosity. I passed the screening and was able to create a Jelper Club account.
— How did you find it once you actually opened a Jelper Club account?
N: First, I was surprised to see that there were genuinely interesting job listings for full-time positions and internships aimed at new graduates that I hadn't seen elsewhere—not just in name but in reality. Another surprise was the number of Jelper Club members with unique backgrounds who were aiming to work in Japan. Especially lately, the Japanese media often buzzes with statements like "Japan's economy has declined" or "Japan is a developing country." Seeing highly talented students from around the world registering with Jelper Club and sharing information about Japan made me very happy as a Japanese person. It also made me think that Japan still has much to offer.
— We heard that you found the hedge fund position you're currently employed at through Jelper Club. Specifically, how did you find it?
N: A little after I opened my Jelper Club account, I was routinely checking the platform when I found that hedge fund position listed in the job feed. I had always dreamed of working in the U.S., so I immediately messaged the hedge fund's account to clarify any uncertainties. After getting clear answers, I applied through the platform.
— What were the good points about using Jelper Club from a member's perspective?
N: As I mentioned earlier, the biggest attraction is that there are many job postings exclusive to Jelper Club. Of course, there are many positions listed in Japan, but the fact that they also post positions in the U.S.—including at hedge funds and other very high-paying roles—is a significant draw. Additionally, it's wonderful that through Jelper Club, you can interact and exchange various information with Japanese students studying at overseas universities and international students in similar situations. Not only does the online platform facilitate this, but becoming a member also provides opportunities for offline interactions, allowing you to deepen relationships among Jelper Club members. In fact, I participated in Soirée Tokyo held this July, made many friends among Jelper Club members, and was able to talk with Japanese executives whom I wouldn't normally meet. It was extremely enjoyable.
— Please give a message to your junior Jelper Club student members.
N: Jelper Club is a place that offers valuable career opportunities and information that you can't obtain anywhere else. I initially joined with a light heart as a new challenge, but as a result, I met wonderful people and had invaluable experiences. Please, without rushing, cherish each and every opportunity. I sincerely hope that your efforts will bear fruit.
